Riffwise · Product owner story

Before an AI reply becomes yours, make these five checks

A practical checklist for using AI to get past the blank reply box while keeping judgment, voice, and the final send with the person who owns the conversation.

When I built Riffwise, I was trying to solve a small, familiar problem: sometimes I knew I wanted to reply, but the blank box made it harder to begin. Copying a post into a separate AI chat added another step and often lost the surrounding conversation.

That did not mean I wanted a tool to decide who deserved a reply or publish one for me. In a conversation, the first draft is only one part of the work. The person still needs to decide whether to answer, what is true, and what they are comfortable saying under their own name.

So I use a simple five-check handoff when AI helps with a reply:

  1. Am I choosing to join this conversation? A tool should not turn every notification into an obligation. I decide whether a reply is worth writing before asking for help with the words.
  2. Is the draft answering the point in front of me? Read it against the actual post or message. A fluent sentence can still miss the question, joke, disagreement, or relationship context.
  3. Are its factual details right? Treat generated names, dates, claims, and explanations as suggestions. Check anything that matters before repeating it.
  4. Would I say this in my own voice? Edit the wording, remove the parts that feel too polished or too certain, and keep the phrasing that sounds like you.
  5. Am I ready to own the final message? Inserting text is not the same as sending it. Take a final look at the recipient and the whole message before you decide to publish or send.

This is why Riffwise prepares a draft from the conversation already open in supported desktop Chrome editors, including X, Threads, Bluesky, and Gmail, then leaves the next move to the user. You can review, edit, insert, copy, or ignore the draft. It never posts or sends automatically. The product is independent software, not an official tool of those platforms.

The free plan includes 40 successful generations per calendar month and does not require a card. The optional Pro plan is €5.99 per month for 500 generations, or €49 billed yearly. Either way, the draft is a starting point, not a verified answer or a substitute for judgment. The details of what a generation sends are explained in the Riffwise privacy policy.

The broader lesson is that useful AI in communication does not have to remove the person from the process. It can take some friction out of starting, while keeping context, editing, and the final decision visible and human. If you want to see that handoff, Riffwise is here.
