The praise that sounds most honest is often the praise you did not ask for: a Reddit comment recommending your tool, a Hacker News thread that mentions you, a kind note under your Product Hunt launch. It is public, it is specific, and it was written by a real person with nothing to gain.

It is also the praise that is easiest to lose. Threads scroll away and comments get buried. Here is how to find it, ask first, and turn it into testimonials on your own site. The example tool is Testimoni, built by the same maker as UpPeek.

Step 1: find the posts Start with places where people talk about tools like yours:

Reddit. Search your product name and your domain. Check the subreddits where your customers hang out. Hacker News. Search your product name, and check any "Show HN" thread you posted. Product Hunt. Open your launch page and read the comments, not just the upvote count. X and LinkedIn. Mentions and tags often hide in notifications. Testimoni's free scan does part of this for you. It looks across X, Reddit, LinkedIn, Product Hunt and Hacker News for public mentions of your site and sorts them into praise, complaints, feature requests and use cases. You decide what is worth keeping.

Step 2: ask before you use someone's words A public post is public, but a quick message is still the right thing to do. Something like:

"Thanks for the kind words about [product]. Would you be okay with us showing your comment on our site, with your name and a link back to the original?"

It costs you a minute, it is courteous, and people who say yes often offer a better, longer quote.

Step 3: turn each post into a testimonial Copy the link to the post. Paste it into Testimoni. The quote, the author's name and photo come across as text. Approve it. You choose what goes on your wall. Publish it on a hosted Wall of Love page, or embed it on your own site with one line of script. The link to the original post is kept, so a visitor can verify the quote. If the praise lives somewhere with no link, such as a DM, Slack or WhatsApp message, upload a screenshot and the AI extracts the quote as text.

Step 4: show it where people decide Put two or three of the strongest quotes next to your sign-up button. Keep a full Wall of Love page you can link to when a prospect asks for proof. Mix sources. A wall with a Reddit comment, a Product Hunt note and a LinkedIn post reads as more honest than ten quotes from one place. What it costs Importing by link is on the free plan, which keeps up to 10 testimonials and includes a hosted Wall of Love. Pro is a flat $19 a month for unlimited testimonials and all layouts.

A word of caution Do not edit a quote to make it sound better, and do not invent one. Pick the lines that are already specific and true. The whole value of this kind of proof is that it is real, and a link to the original is what makes it believable.
